Displaying photographs is a great way to add warmth and class to a tabletop. I personally love the look of a chunky gold frame but there are so many different styles of frames out there…buy what you love! You’ll want to arrange them starting with the largest in the back and graduating down to the front with smaller frames. Blend frame colors for a cohesive look and then add beautiful fresh flowers in a glass bowl, like these pretty hibiscus or other decorative additives. The look of gold and glass together is elegant and has a fresh appeal. Remember to keep your framed photos grouped together rather than spacing them about the house.
If you prefer hanging your photos on the wall, the same ideas applies for keeping them grouped together for continuity and style. I like to add decorative elements like this black and white matted photo to the mix. These photos line the wall next to my guest bedroom and bath for guests to enjoy. I haven’t changed these particular photos because they have special meaning from my wedding day and our early life together. It’s also a good idea to work in odd numbers; the pictures below need one more photo or decorative item to make it seven items. I would recommend updating photos when you can, keeping them looking fresh and current, unless they are special wedding photos, birth photos or one in a lifetime l events you want to remember.
With all of the advanced uses for storing digital photos, printed photos don’t seem as popular; however, they re great for decorating and showing off a beautiful frame on any table or wall space in your home.
Lately I’ve been craving delicious fruit and a summer peach or nectarine can satisfy like no other. It’s fresh sweet taste reminds of summer days long ago filled with swimming pool fun, kick the can, lemonade, and lightning bugs. Its was a time of no worries and endless fun.
Today, I was strolling through the produce section at my local food market and was enticed by the lovely picturesque display of peaches and nectarines. I quickly made my way over and began to chat with a woman just as excited as I was to find the perfect nectarine. We began to talk about the beautiful color and sweet taste. She shared with me her nighttime ritual which included eating a piece of fresh fruit or frozen grapes. Her eyes widened as she smiled broadly at the thought of it. We laughed and giggled like kids…I thought to myself…no, we really haven’t changed…we still love our summertime, we just celebrate it a little differently these days.
Enjoy this sweet summer peach salsa…great on a piece of chicken or fish!
2 ripe peaches, pealed, halved, pitted and diced
2 nectarines pitted and diced
1/2 red bell pepper diced
1/2 red onion
1/2 jalapeno minced
Juice from a lime
salt and pepper
Mix all ingredients together, drizzle with lime juice and season with chili, salt and pepper!
Much time is spent in our little café kitchen…just me and my guys! We have a pretty good working relationship…I cook delicious food and they eat it. Seriously, creating a great meal with the ones you love and sharing your day is a great way to connect.
My husband is one the most appreciative people I know. He is not too particular or fussy when it comes to trying out new and interesting food. This blesses me hugely because we get to try new things together and enjoy the plentiful flavors of God’s abundance. I have met many people who want to stick with their same old palate and never spice it up a bit! Trying new things gives us opportunity to grow and expand our tastes. My other four legged furry guy, Nelson, our chocolate lab, is absolutely not particular …he’ll eat just about anything!
One particular afternoon, after a morning of bike riding and errands, we came together (me, my sweetheart and Nelson!) for a simple delectable wrap infused with flavor and topped off with a lovely cranberry juice spritzer. It was just the right touch after a busy morning. We love the opportunity to share our day and thank God for the blessings of togetherness and a good meal. The simple act of making lunch for someone, can reap a harvest of blessing for you and the one you love.
